Originally established in 1888 as George Thomas Mountford, the company became Myott, Son & Co., (Ltd.) in 1898, operating out of factories in Cobridge and Hanley, Staffordshire. Producing primarily earthenware, two of their most famous patterns were “The Crowning” (which came in various colours) to commemorate the coronation of Edward VIII (which never occurred), and also “The Crowning” (which came in various colours) to commemorate the coronation of Elizabeth II (which did).
