There were many Wood factories established by various generations of the Wood family, beginning with Ralph (the first of three generations of Ralphs!) in Burslem, Staffordshire. Aaron Wood, Ralph’s brother, established his own factory in 1752, and various family members continued in the family business either independently or working for Wedgwood factories. (For example Enoch Wood from 1783 to 1846.) Wood & Son was established in 1865, becoming Wood & Sons Ltd. in 1910, and surviving until 1981. Probably the most popular Wood pattern was English Scenery which came in a variety of colours and edges.
