Originally established in 1657, William Adams & Sons, Ltd. eventually operated four separate potteries at Stoke-on Trent, which were primarily known for their ironstone and earthenware patterns, particularly calyx ware patterns such as Adams Lowestoft, Adams Ming Jade, Adams Singapore Bird and Adams 2475, which had a distinctive blue to green glaze. Other popular Adams patterns (not calyx ware) included Baltic, English Scenic (in various colours), Gloucester, Lancaster, Madeleine and Summer Delight. The Adams factories became part of the Wedgwood Group in 1966.
